From now on, we entered once again into the term of excessive resource searching for our essays. While researching for my essay, I noticed that my writing is very hard to realize, since the majority of my resources are in german, and most of them written by the GDR, or those who are politicaly left, which would make it very difficult to reflect a neutral thesis and neutral essay.
Therefore I changed my topic, to a problem which was touching me from years ago; poverty in exploited developing countries, and possibilities to balance world wide trade and living standarts.
And a little bit off topic, but Barcelona won the el clasico against real madrid with 5-0! A really suprising number for me.

October 28!

What a day, what a week, what a weather.
The temperature in Tokyo fell suddenly down , which made me so sad, since I am susceptible to Mr. Weathers mood.
When it is sunny, I am happy.
When it's raining, I am sad. Ce la vie, that's live, some french people would say.
But you shouldn't say it to often. When you get a bad mark in a test, dont say ce la vie, because its not the life punishing you, but your lazyness. If you loose a football game, dont say ce la vie, because you could have trained better, or play better as a team to win. If you have no rights to make money, therefore have no money, can you say ce la vie? If your child has to work for 3 cent per hour for the sake of the family, because you are not able to work, can you say ce la vie? If your only source of life, agriculture etc, is getting ruined by patents, can you say ce la vie, that's life?
...No you can't! Because it's your life! And life is priceless. And if your life is falsly getting sold, stand up and fight for the right to say, ce ma vie!
Time is Money, Money is might! Our brain is getting invaded by viruses in the shape of money. Even tough, some clever scientists would say, that one of the human senses contents the feeling of pity. But pity isn't a persistent love story, but just a momentary One-Night-Stand. Coorperations have love stories, really, they love money, more than anything. And they don't cheat, they are loyal lovers to their money.

Today we saw the last 20 minutes of the documetary movie ' The Corporation'.
It was informative, and showed us students another face of money, culture, society; which contradicts to the face the Media, like television etc. is showing to us every day.
The second part of todays class consisted of introducing everyones essaytopics, they want to write.
I will concentrade on corperations like IG Farben, who played a big bad role in the 2nd World War. But I am still considering about my topic.

See you next week

Do you want to live with or without the knowledge?
Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn't like to hear it, but I am I, therefore i know.
Memories of our childhood... friends, sweets, christmas... We are infected by corporations advertisment, and under the ruling mercenary corporations hand, which is controlling our minds.

Coca cola, a sweet tasting liquified sugar dring, is controlling us on from young ages... even right know I see a comercial from Coca cola in the japanese TV, comparing coca cola with a model familie, talking about dream, love and happiness.
But how much love and happiness contents coca cola?? If you would measure it by pieces of sugar, then you could say, that a can of cola contains 13 happiness cubes, and funny coffein friends.
Children getting taught about the merits of coca cola, its fun to drink it, every one drinks it, even santa claus, the man who brings us all those nice presents, who wears, of course because he likes coca cola, the colours of the company: red and white. Children like it, children grow up, parents like it.
But Coca cola is not the only one. There is Mr. Shell, Mr.GM or Mr Microsoft.
Yes, there are all legal persons, like you and me. They are all members of the corporation family, living in the west side of monopoly town.
There aren't companys anymore, no, there are owned by shareholders, who are holding the power, and the right of cruelness to everyone and everything except theire wallet,
As long as there wallets are well-nourished the whole world can die of starvation.
walletobsety, brain and feeling starvation is another phenomena of corporations.
Corporations are not only ruling the west side of monopoly world, no , but also free trading zones. Ruling with Carrot and stick, how nostalgic. Getting some slaves, and make them happy with carrots, after they are full of carrots, go to the next free trade zone, and fill empty stomachs with carrots, huii.

In short; in todays class we saw the first part of the documentary, the corporations, which tried to show the viewer how corrupt corporations can be, in the name of Money.
Polluted Environment, factory farming, virus infected milk...as long as the money is right, the smile is bright. Another can care about problems, which have been made, as long as MR corporation can smile. You would call this externality.

There are a lot of things to add about todays class, but caused by the shock of viewing the documantery, i cannot write in a clear mind.

The first lesson in the second semester!

On the 30th of septemper, the first class of Mr. Paterson Writing course in the 2nd Semester was held in the new Building of the Dokkyo University, in the E-Building.
Honestly, the new building is not bad, but i preferred the older buildings, because they had this flair of learning. The university atmosphere, you would imagine.
The new building has an atmosphere, which is close to the one of a hospital. Especially the stairs aren't as good designed as they should be, since it is very irritating, and at every floor you need to make one more time the important decision: left, or right...

The course itself was good. We have the chance to improve our essays from the first semester, by correcting and revising faults, marked by Rab, who checked all of our essays. Rab also gave us the chance, to discuss about 5 minutes with Rab individually about unclearness of parts, that got marked.
I hope everyone can improve theyr essays, so that we can look forward for the next, the second essays of the 2nd semester which content will concentrate on a documentation we are going to watch in the next and overnext class.

hello
in the last class, we deepened the paragraph problem.
But their are other problems as well... the essay, we need to write.
After reading some essays of other students, I was really impressed, because mine is not as half as good.
So, I need to make it better I guess, even though it is a difficult topic i choose.

Writing a blog in the last 5 minutes of the lesson- this is my mission right now!
Todays lesson was specifcly cencentrating on the quotating.
Using MLA, APA or Chicago, as quote method, you can be a pro quoter.
Of course, as already written several times, it is also very convenient to use the great mozilla firefox add on Zotero.

:edit
I was not ab le to finish the blog in 5 minutes, neither on the same day, but let's see...wow, we have only about 2 weeks left, to hand in our essays!
To say the truth, I am not finish yet. I need to work much more for my essay.
Homework... let me check my techou....okay, soo, page 45-46.

The time is passing so fast.

Hello everyone, how are you today.
I will write about the last class.
We finally found a good rhythm of practicing with our Textbook, especially practicing paragraph-writing, and working on our text.
In short, in the first lessons, we were writing a rough text, the basic topic with basic data and content.
Now we are supposed to polish our rough manuscript.
I hope our essays will shine by polishing

In the last lessons, we got to know about a serious problem of the world wide web, and its giant, official, every one can see, universe. Privacy.
The privacy of your data on famous online web sites like Facebook are very questionable.
After reading the article, sent by our teacher Rab, I deleted my uploaded photos and also put my privacy settings on the highest standard.
Of course, I could delete my account, but this wouldn't solve the problem, after Rab.
Furthermore, I am via Facebook in contact with my German friends, so it would cut my last contact with them.

Even though, the Internet is very useful, it has dangerous and scary weak points.
Not using it is not the answer, but using it in a certain way, in a way of consciousness of its dangers, we can live together hand in hand, until the end of this fast highway of life.
Amen.

We also deepened the Paragraph story. How to writ etc pp.
I am honestly very busy in the last time, with watching, discussing and criticizing football, played in the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South-Africa.

SeeYou!

A lesson of insight

The last lesson was very surprising.
Surprising, because I learned the first time that lot on such a small range of time.

Next I'd like you, my dear reader, to have a look at my notes, I took in the last lesson.
There are 2 special facts to say about this notes, and 1 not that special thing.
1. It is all written in the google document application, which I shared with other students, so that everyone, especially those, who couldn't get all the point in the speaking pace of Rab, or those who forget to write their own notes, have now the possibility to see my notes. Furthermore, they can also add notes, which I didn't write.
2. With the web application script, I can post the file into the blog

one bad fact is, that I made some spelling and grammar faults.
Rules of Academic Writing

While writing my Essay, I can explore the internet, its functions and in formations.
I am not focusing on my topic only, but when I see any interesting articles, whether they are related to my topic, or not, I read them. I am see that my horizon of knowledge getting wider.
So you kill two birds with one stone.

In the last lesson, we basically talked in our groups about every ones essay, and how to share information via gmail documents to our group mates. To explain the document sharing system, Rab used my essay manuscript as example, and marked so many thinks red, as faults, that I really began to think, how less I know about writing an essay in English. I didn't even seem to know the basics of writing, maybe some time, Rab will teach us the abc, and not the xyz.
Ah, maybe I am just a little bit frustrated, that I have finished basically my Essay in the content, but not in the mass of words, since we have to write 1000-2000 words.

Media lies

In todays lessons beginning,Rab showed us a video, of how the big men behind the viewable media influence the reality and correctness. With big men, I mean politicians, owner of big companies etc pp.
Tough, it wasn't new for me to know that the media is not telling the truth as it is, but as they want, I got shocked by the picture, for example made in the Iraq, where a demonstration against saddham hussein was photo shopped, to make it look like, there were a crowd of thousand people, instead, there weren't.
Anyway, in the last lesson, we mainly talked about our Essay- thinking, and realizing the writing.
Since we got a document with a lot of hints of how to write, how to organize and with a lot of links to websites, where we can get help, if needed, the writing shouldn't be the big problem.
The main problem will be approximately the thinking.

HOW TO SPEAK FLUENT JAPANESE WITHOUT SAYING A WORD

Hello everyone.
As you can see, in today's class, Rab showed us an interesting video.
But this was the only funny part, because from today on the the real class of Mr. Rab Peterson started!
Writing an Essay- that's the main goal for this class. And today, we needed to announce our Research question. By listening to others topics, we were able to build groups, consisting of 2 or 3 students, to help each other.
For helping each other, a similar research genre is needed. That's the main aspect for group building.
But why building groups, when everyone writes his own original Essay anyway?
That's a good Question! At this point, the knowledge from the first class comes to action.
With using the Google mail documents, you can share your Essay with your group mates, online. That means you can let your Essay be checked buy students, who write about similar thinks like you, but maybe seen from a different perspective, and can find mistakes, that you can't see.
By the way, my research question is: When is a person old?
I am trying my best to realize it in the best way possible.
I think, this weeks homework is, to begin writing your Essay, and from next week on, we are going to use the book, every student should have bought, by spending, yes, about 3000円 !

Thank you
Uwe

Golden Week

Because of the Showaday, there was no Writing Lesson last week, so I was thinking of writing any trivial thinks instead of commenting a lesson which wasn't even held.
But what to write after this "fantastic" fantasy entry, that earned a lot of applause not only from Mr.Rab but also some others, like classmates, or friends?
To be honest, I'm not in the mood, to write at least a half as good entry as my last one, but will make an effort, to write an enjoyable text.

I will write a little about my Golden Week holidays. Well, if you get asked:
"Hey, what did you do on the GW man?", the most of you may answer:
"Yo, I partied!!"
But honestly, I didn't had any drinking-party, but did more interesting thinks.
Of course, some of you would tell me again, how interesting and cheerful a party could be, when university freshmen, who don't know there limit, are gathering in combination with alcohol. discussing the sense of there existence.
Build your own opinion, but I am not a person who likes to drink without any reason.
Stop talking about these thinks, let's talk about my Saturday.
After waking up early, I went to the Sports recreation class, to enjoy playing frisbee on the school's sports ground, under a sea of ultra violet rays. But still, it was very fun.

I can tell you an interesting point about me: I love sports! Almost every kind of Sports, but especially Football, or so called "soccer". A sport that really resembles to football but differs too much, to call it the same, is "Futsal" .
It's like a small court football game, 5 against 5. The court has the size of a basketball or handball court, the goals are smaller, comparable to a handball goal.
A big difference makes the ball. It's a 4 sized no bounce ball, which makes it difficult to play high balls, like a long pass or a centre in a football game.
Therefore, because of the ground size and the balls ability Futsal is a fast pass game.
And because its so fun, me and 14 other friends from the same faculty rented a futsal court, 15 minutes walk from Dokkyo, and enjoyed playing for 2 hours.
It was really fun, and a good way to learn more about each other.
After finishing and going back home, I needed to prepare for the next futsal, namely I am a member of an other futsal team, with members of society, all about 30 years.
So, I had a doubleheader this day, and was very exhausted.
But to tell the truth, I really enjoy this feeling, to go to your limits in sports, or learning(and not drinking) and when the day is over, and you just wanna have a sleep, when you are able to say, that you are satisfied with your today's earnings, you know the reason why you sowed the seed of effort.
The next day was a pure relax day... W\with relax I mean cleaning-and-shopping-day.
To add more about interesting points of mine: I am living together with a japanese family, but not just A japanese family, but with feelings, like my own.
So I'm helping there a lot, as it would be for my families sake.

So there weren't any enjoyable things for the reader of this blog on this Sunday.

But the Monday was different.
After finishing my last part time job, some months ago at a strange international cafe in Shibuya, I was thinking to earn again some money.
And after requesting at a sports cafe at Roppongi, I got a interview arrangement at 10.45 pm!
Of course I was there, even tough it was at night, and Roppongi at night is a very exciting place, especially for people like me, with a face of a stranger, to japanese people.
I was offered to buy drugs, illegal tabacco and other things, but with my absent-minded face expression I could resist the dirty offers of the devil itself, the curiosity to try forbidden things.
But in the end, I entered the extravagant cafe, and met the manager, a, Irish man.
Basically, they wanted me to work at night, not only at night, but from night to morning. That would make learning for me impossible! The salary was fantastic, but the working time was miserable, so i decided to NOT work there.
But it was an interesting experience for me, because Roppongi was so exciting.

The Tuesday was the climax of my golden week holidays.
It was one more time a day, that started too early for me, but I am getting used to it.
Yes, on Tuesday, there was a Barbecue! A barbecue next to the Arakawa river. Fantastic weather, nice people, and a lot of meat, sausages and (b**r) made it to an unforgivable event to me.
And now on Wednesday, unfortunately the last Goldenweek day 【:() I am trying to write a decent text, for my dokkyo writing class blog, but in the end it is just an usual, not that interesting blog entry- don't stone me please.

cya

PS.: To bore you a little more, i add a video of a Korean guitarist. His name is Zack Kim, and he got famous on Youtube, maybe some of you know him.

April 22th dokkyo writing lesson!

Once upon a time, in Browserland, there has been a Prince.
His name was Prince Firefox. He was one of the mightiest and strongest Princes.
The women loved him for his awesome look, the men appreciated him for his power and logical thinking. Prince Firefox and his followers, Sir Google toolbarance, Zoro Zotero, Rikaichan, and the magician Rabandalf, the quintet of true power was feared, and had no enemies but one...
The IE-King, living in his castle in Nomansland.
And it happened, that the IE-King has kidnapped the beautiful princess Mozilla, the wife of Prince Firefox!
Upset and willing to save his Princess Mozilla, Prince Firefox headed together with his famous quintet to the Nomansland, to the castle of the IE-King.

So they sett off, and after a long and stony road over field and hills, over water and fire, through jungle and desert, the quintet finally arrived at the castle of the IE-King.
It was a big and uncomfortable, grey castle, protected by the strongest of the IE-Kings Mans- The Dokkyo-Adminwarrior, a man of unbelievable power, not to beat, even if the whole world would fight against him.
So what to do? Go back home? NO! The purpose for coming was to save the Princess Mozilla! No return without her! With the Princess or with the death!!!!

But then someone said:"We don't need to fight! We can go from the backdoor! Since our aim is not the Dokkyo-Adminwarrior, but the IE-King We should go round the unnecessary fighting, and start the necessary thinking!"
The 'someone' was Rabandalf.
"Nice to hear, but how to realize? Is there any backdoor?", Prince Firefox insisted.
"YES, there is! I researched in my magic google-search book, and it is written in there!", Sir Google toolbarance explained.
"Fine! So let's GO!!!!"

And it was really there, the backdoor!
But after arriving, there has been another problem! The Backdoor was small! Very small! just a mans hand could enter, but not a normal sized man!
But no Problem! The strongest member of this team, Zoro Zotero just grabbed his sword, and cut the stone wall. Amazing! He saved a life!

Find the Princess! She must be there!
Then they heard a voice! It was a old, slow and deep voice.
"Yooouuuuu aaaareeeee mmiiiiiiineee...haaaaaaa.....haaaaaaa....haaaaaaaa
"That's the IE-King!", Prince Firefox said.
"Let's get the princess!"
They ran and sprinted, and than, there was the King!
He was about 1,50 m high, a little fat, and grey, grey like the ashes on his head.
"Whooooo aaarreeeee yoouuuuuuu!!!??!, he was about to scream in his slowly deep voice.
But before finishing his sentence, Firefox took Princess Mozillas hand, and ran away!
Firefoxes Team was already home, when the slow IE-King finished his sentence and was surprised that no one was there...

the End.

This story explains in an other way today's lesson.
Basically, Mr. Rab told us about the advantages of the Firefox Browser and its tools, and the disadvantages of the Internet explorer.
In short the Internet explorer is slow and not very useful, but the firefox is.
Moreover, we were taught how to install a portable version of the Firefox Browser to our USB drive.
The Firefox has a lot of useful Add ons and tools, like the Zotero, who should once save a students life!

All in all it was a good class, with a non-japanese flair.

April 15th, Writing class

In todays writing class, we learned more about our teacher Rab, about his life in schottland, and about his exciting life in Japan.
(I know that I won't gain any extra points, but) Mr. Paterson seems to be a good person.
The rest of our 90 minutes class consisted of constructing my own web-blog, setting my web calender at google mail, and solving the riddle of internet bookshelves.

April 8th Writing class

On April 8th, the first class of Mr. Patersons English writing course was held at the 5th building in room 101 at the beautiful green Dokkyo University Campus in Souka, Saitama prefecture.
It started at 10:45, at a day with full of sunshine.
Mr. Paterson, a humorous, in Schottland born Glasgow Ranger fan, informed us, about this years writing class.
Suprisingly, we need to work with Computers. Writing blogs, joining a class-intern group, writing essays via internet research, all of this is for me a new experience and im looking forward to it.
We were taught, about the importance of team work, which is a major point to have success in this class.
Homework was to create a gmail account and to buy a USB stick.
